Data Transfer Problems

Problem Symptom Possible Cause(s) Action
During data transfer, RR poll frames are transmitted, and eventually the link resets. T1 too short. Reconfigure the T1 timeout period to a longer value:
Run the FarSync Configuration Program, select the line, and click on the Properties button, then click on the Level 2 tab, and increase the size of the Retransmission Timeout (T1) parameter.
An X.25 Reset Request packet is sent with diagnostic code 0x01. The layer 3 default receive window size configuration is incorrect (too small). Reconfigure the layer 3 receive window size: Run the FarSync Configuration Program, select the line, and click on the Properties button, then click on the Basic Level 3 tab, change Default Rx Window Size parameter.
An X.25 Reset Indication packet is received with diagnostic code 0x01. The layer 3 default transmit window size configuration is incorrect (too large). Reconfigure the layer 3 transmit window size: Run the FarSync Configuration Program, select the line, and click on the Properties button, then click on the Basic Level 3 tab, change Default Tx Window Size parameter.
When receiving bulk data (for example, when connected to a data feed service), data transfer is slower than is expected. The FarSync X.25 is not acknowledging each receive data packet individually.

(Note: the FarSync software is optimized for full-duplex data transfer.)
Reconfigure the layer 3 acknowledgment timer to zero: Run the FarSync Configuration Program, select the line, and click on the Properties button, then click on the Advanced Level 3 tab, change the Acknowledgement Timer parameter to zero.
The layer 3 default receive window size configuration is incorrect (too large). Reconfigure the layer 3 transmit window size: Run the FarSync Configuration Program, select the line, and click on the Properties button, then click on the Basic Level 3 tab, change Default Rx Window Size parameter.

Caution: if you decrease the window size too much, you may get a different problem (see above).
